Now this patch was a lot of fun - created to mark the participation of both 1(F) Squadron and XI(F) Squadron in the first of the famous Red Flag series of exercises this year, we wanted to create something which was smart and clean, plus gave a nod to the nearby Las Vegas skyline but which wasn’t like the now normalised imagery seen on Red Flag patches to date…hopefully you like it!

Exercise Red Flag brings together coalition air forces to train in a simulated high-threat environment, designed to replicate modern peer-to-peer combat. It is the premier event of its kind in the world.

The design incorporates the colours and identity of both squadrons, blending them with bold aviation symbolism and striking, high-contrast artwork. It maintains the traditional Typhoon profile at its centre, but unusually this is dropped into silhouette against the background sunset. The lower portion of the design features a stylised skyline, placing the exercise firmly in its unique location.

We’re pleased to have been able to create a badge which serves as a unique marker of a shared moment in both the histories of 1(F) Squadron and XI(F) Squadron. We wish them both the best of luck in Nevada!
